BN To Ride Win Of Change To Victory In Kedah, Kelantan - Mustapa

SUNGAI PETANI, April 21 (Bernama) -- International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed has expressed his confident that the Barisan Nasional (BN) would ride the wind of change to victory in Kedah and Kelantan due to growing support from the Malays, Chinese and Indians.

After five years of lethargic development under the opposition rule, he said the people in both states clamoured for change under the tutelage of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Razak.

"The opposition has hardly made any progress in Sungai Petani, Merbok and Jerai since wresting the parliamentary constituencies in the last general election," he told reporters at the handing out of MyKasih cards to here Sunday.

Mustapa, who is also Kelantan Umno Liaison Committee chairman, said BN campaigners and supporters should maintain high spirit and determination to recapture the three parliamentary seats.

Kedah MIC Youth chief P. Prabagaran said so far about 3,000 families in Sungai Petani, Merbok, Jerai, Alor Setar, Kuala Kedah and Padang Serai earning below RM1,500 a month are getting RM80 a month in food vouchers from the MyKasih Foundation, a non-governmental organisation.

Present were BN candidates for the Sungai Petani parliamentary seats Dr Syamsul Anuar, Ismail Daut (Merbok parliamentary seat), Datuk Tajul Urus Mohd Zain (Tanjung Dawai state seat), M.L. Maran (Bukit Selambau state seat), and Lee Heung Heng (Sidam state seat).
